Chief Accountant

Reporting to the Managing Director and Partner, you will play a key role in overseeing and optimizing the company’s accounting and financial activities. You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle, budget monitoring, the implementation of effective internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. Through your expertise, you will contribute to the analysis of financial performance, continuous process improvement, and support management in decision-making.

Requirements
- University degree in finance, accounting, or administration
- CPA designation
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in accounting or financial roles, including at least 3 years in a team supervision role
- Experience managing the full accounting cycle, budget monitoring, and the preparation of financial statements
- Experience within a growing company and/or in professional services (an asset)
- Command of written and spoken French
- Intermediate to advanced English so you can interact regularly with your colleagues across Canada
Main responsibilities
Financial and accounting management
- Supervise all accounting operations (general ledger accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, etc.)
- Produce, analyze and review monthly financial statements
- Ensure compliance of accounting practices with applicable standards
- Prepare year-end files and coordinate external audits
- Oversee cash management, liquidity, and cash flow forecasting
Internal controls and compliance
- Establish, maintain and improve internal controls
- Ensure compliance with financial, fiscal, and regulatory policies
- Identify and mitigate financial, operational, or compliance risks
Budget, analyses, and performance
- Lead the annual budgeting process and financial forecasting in close collaboration with senior management
- Prepare financial analyses, performance reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Support management through analyses and recommendations that facilitate informed decision-making
Continuous improvement
- Contribute to the optimization of accounting, financial, and administrative processes
- Participate in the rollout or update projects for tools and systems (ERP, automation, BI)
- Establish practices that enhance the efficiency, quality, and speed of operations
Leadership and management
- Supervise and support the administration and accounting team
- Participate in recruiting, training, overseeing, and appraising team members
